PETG films and sheets are produced by Tosoh’s subsidiary company Taihei Chemicals Ltd and are used for making next generation security cards, including both contact and contactless IC cards.

PETG is an amorphous thermoplastic that can be injection-moulded or sheet-extruded. Its surface conditions are suitable for heat-pressed lamination and are ideal for being combined with magnetic materials. The overlay can be prepared with thermal adhesive properties which is required for card manufacturing. The surface conditions are designed for printability on core sheets and high level of opacity can be achieved using Taihei's own compound. Heat Resistance grades and low temperature adhesive grades are available.
